Elkins High School's Juliann Harlan has been selected to represent West Virginia in the United States Youth Senate Program (USSYP)—one of the highest honors a student

leader can earn. Each year, only two students statewide are chosen for this elite national program, making Juliann’s selection an exceptional distinction.

The USSYP is known for recognizing students who demonstrate outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to public service.

As part of the program, Juliann will travel to Washington, D.C., in March 2026 for Washington Week, an intensive educational experience offering students a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the federal government. During her time in the nation’s capital, Juliann will:

-Meet U.S. Senators, Supreme Court justices, Cabinet officials, and other national leaders

-Participate in policy discussions and high-level leadership sessions

-Gain firsthand insight into the workings of the federal government

-Connect with top student leaders from across the United States

In addition to this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Juliann will also receive a $10,000 college scholarship, awarded to support her continued education and future aspirations.

Randolph County Schools congratulates Juliann Harlan on this remarkable honor.
