The Child Nutrition Department of Randolph County Schools makes breakfast, lunch and snacks available to ALL children. The objective of the Child Nutrition Program is to provide nutritionally acceptable meals at affordable prices. All meals are subsidized with federal and state funds.  Meals at school are carefully planned to follow standardized meal patterns reflecting governmental nutritional standards, and put to the best possible use in-season foods as well as those received as commodities. Meal patterns are also designed to provide as much variety as possible. Meals are prepared and served by cooks whose skills are updated regularly through in service programs and college-level classes, which stress up-to-date knowledge about nutrition, program standards and preparation techniques.

Breakfast Options

Randolph County realizes that eating breakfast can help improve math and reading scores; help children pay attention; have less behavior issues at school; and have fewer absences and tardiness.  Randolph County also realizes that some students get up and aren't ready to eat breakfast until a little later or eat early and several hours later are ready to eat again.  Fortunately, all students in Randolph County will have the opportunity to participate in a Breakfast Initiative at their school.  This initiative follows the same nutritional guidelines as the traditional breakfast.  Here are the options that each school can choose from:

      1.  Grab and Go - Student goes through the breakfast line and eat his/her breakfast on the go
      2.  Breakfast in the Classroom - Student goes through the breakfas

Questions and Answers:
1)   Can my child purchase just part of a meal?
Answer:
Only fluid milk may be purchased separately. Meals must be purchased as a total unit.

2)  What if my child has an allergy or medical condition that needs a special diet or meal?
Answer:
If a child has a medical condition, allergy or other need for a special diet, your doctor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or dietitian may fill out a special dietary form. This form allows for a medical professional to describe the diagnosis (reason) for the special need and provides an opportunity to list appropriate and allowable substitutions.
The Child Nutrition Department welcomes the opportunity to discuss an individual student's dietary concerns with their parent/guardian at any time.
