Office of Technology
The RCS Office of Technology's goal is to provide students, teachers and administrators access to the best technology possible to make learning relevant, exciting and meaningful. In support of the WVDE Division of Technology, we will follow a design and implement a robust, standards based, infrastructure that will support a technology rich learning environment and facilitate improved student to computer ratios initiatives that engage our students and empower our teachers. Standardization of our infrastructure will allow for robust interoperability across systems. This will set the stage for more technological autonomy and creativity at the classroom level.
The Office of Technology is charged with planning, acquisition, installation, consultation, and maintenance of computers, networks, Internet, instructional, assessment, and administrative software including the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS). The Office also acts in advisory and support capacities on various technical issues such as security systems and telecommunications.
Our current Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure provides broadband to all schools in Randolph County over a fiber optic backbone. Infrastructure best practices including centralized management, virtualization, redundancy, and bandwidth shaping are being utilized to power our WAN. Secure and commercial-quality wireless systems have been installed in all schools. All devices connected to our network are monitored and filtered through our WAN.
